A Love Letter

May time be kind to us. May love blossom like a field of freshly planted poppies. The colors of hope, freedom, sincerity, passion, all swirling into a patch of dreams. May the rain never wash away the soil of our firmly planted roots. May our memories never fade from what we saw in each others' eyes, that deep gaze where the clouds of our sorrow from the past, part to a ray of sunshine caressed by that summer breeze. That breeze from our childhood, that innocent breeze we felt swinging from that old tire swing under the oak tree, just before Mother called us in for lunch and lemonade.

You are my fondest memory even when I forget my own name, which I know in time I will. I will forever until my dying breath remember your name like a sonnet accompanied by the harps of heaven. Oh how welcoming, how safe, how perfectly peaceful. I will run when I am no longer able to walk, I will fly when I am no longer able to run and I will float to the heavens like a dandelion petal when all is finished on the breath of an innocent child. That is the beauty of love. It knows only to be free.

Your eyes captivate me like a torrent storm on the high seas. I look into them knowing the storm will pass as long as I stay true to my course. My little boat, rickety it may be and the sail may be torn, but my heart will guide me more accurate than any constellation. I will follow this heart, as I know it knows my destination even when my mind and my body fail me, my heart will never stray from the set course this young man and the sea have set forth.

Thank you for being that light that guides this little lost sailor through the storm to the little oak tree with the tire swing to where you await. That little girl I love. I will be that summer breeze floating softly through your hair when you close your eyes and swing, with laughter in your heart and a smile in your soul. I love you with all that I am or could be.

Love,

Your Dandelion
